Office of Academic Assessment Projects
In addition to the assessment efforts of the various units of the University, the Office of Academic Assessment and the Office of Institutional Research and Planning (O.I.R.P.) conduct various studies, surveys, seminars, and focus groups and administer tests to obtain broad perspectives on student achievement. Emphasis is placed particularly on the cross-curricular goals of writing and critical thinking. Examples of recent testing include the ETS Measure of Academic Proficiency and Progress test of general education and the California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory and Skills Test. In-house surveys of both Women’s College and Evening and Weekend College students as well as alumni surveys have been developed and administered. Results of these university-wide efforts are shared broadly with the appropriate departments and administrators, who in turn are asked to prepare feedback reports of how the information will be used to improve their program or service area.

Women's College Assessment Day
In the Women's College, an annual Assessment Day is held in late March to allow time for majors to meet with and conduct assessments of their students at all levels. This day also allows time for global assessments such as surveys, standardized tests of general education, critical thinking appraisals, the collection of writing samples and the like.

Nonresidential Programs Assessment
The Associate Vice President for Nonresidential Programs, who also oversees Evening, Weekend, and Online Studies operations, works closely with the Assessment Office to arrange comparable surveying and testing of sample populations of students at all Brenau locations. Communication of assessment results is achieved via the EWO administration and through the teaching faculty.
