The Student Lab on the Gainesville campus is provided for students to do homework and check email. The lab is located in the Redwine Technology Center. During library hours enter through the library’s main entrance and follow the signs to the computer lab.

The lab has 32 computers, 3 networked laser printers, a large format inkjet printer, and 8 scanners. You will need your Brenau network account to use these computers or to print. Current software on these computers includes Microsoft Office 2003 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access, FrontPage), plus selected software specific to individual classes. Because the risk of spillage is great, beverages with screw type lids are allowed, food is prohibited (please dispose these before entering the library). Bring your USB memory sticks and CD-RW's with you as files cannot be saved to these computers. Students may not download or install software on any Brenau-owned computer.

The Helpdesk

The Help Desk is located in the Student Lab and provides telephone and in-person assistance with printing, login or basic software questions (Blackboard, email, etc.) Please consult your instructor for questions with course-specific software programs such as Microstation or SPSS.

Other Computer Locations

Additional computers for email and homework are available in the Commuter Lounge (near the Post Office in Bailey) as well as most residence halls. Paper for these printers is available through the Community Advisors or through Student Development. Kiosk computers with internet-only access are available in The Brenau Tea Room, and the Jacobs Building. You will need your Brenau network account to use these computers. Please keep food and beverages away from the computers to avoid damage to the equipment. Report equipment problems to the Help Desk (x4774) or via an email to helpdesk@brenau.edu.

Hours of Operation:
Weekdays: 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.
Weekends: 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
When classes are scheduled

The two computer labs at the Atlanta Site (6745 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. Atlanta, GA 30360) are available to students to do homework and check email unless they are in use for classes. These are located in the main building on the first floor.

Each lab has 12 computers and a networked laser printer. You will need your Brenau network account to use these computers or to print. A scanner and deskjet printer are available in each room for limited color printing. Current software on these computers includes Microsoft Office XP (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access, FrontPage), plus selected software specific to individual classes. Because these rooms are small and the risk of spillage is great, food and beverages are prohibited (please leave these on the table outside the door or in the break room).

Students who need assistance in the lab may get help from Theresa Totten, the library coordinator, or call the student Help Desk at 770-538-4774.

Technology ClassRooms

Room 101 in the main building is the primary technology classroom for this site and contains a networked computer with a projector, DVD player and VCR. Faculty and/or students who wish to use this equipment for their classes need to contact David Barnett (Atlanta Campus Director) Faculty members can schedule class time in this room through the Atlanta receptionist.

Other classrooms have various combinations of computers, projection equipment and/or laptops for classroom use; however, these are reserved for use by the Education department faculty/classes. Students are asked not to use the technology classroom computers except as part of a class presentation so that these limited resources remain available for classes.
