Membership Sales Associate I

Under the direction of the Member Involvement Coordinator, the Sales Associate’s primary responsibility is to promote and sell memberships and programs to prospective members in order to meet or exceed personal monthly goals and team goals for sales and retention. The Sales Associate will also assist with facility based promotion of programs and membership geared specifically toward increasing member retention. Know How:1.       Knowledge of the fitness industry.2.       Some knowledge of the YMCA.3.       Great people skills.4.       Good verbal communication skills.5.       Professional image through dress, posture, poise.6.       Assertive with energetic and enthusiastic personality.7.       Good work habits.8.       Self-motivated and team player.9.       Working Knowledge of computers (MS Word, MS Excel, SPIRIT Helpful).10.    Telemarketing skills.11.    Previous experience in sales12.    Some Post High School Education Preferred13.    Pass the state of Georgia criminal background check, and on site drug test.14.    Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, problem solve, and posses effective                      time management skills. Essential Functions:1.       Promote and sell YMCA memberships to families and individuals2.       Utilize sales and customer service techniques3.       Achieve daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals4.       Receipt memberships and programs in SPIRIT5.       Maintain records and reports of prospects and sales6.       Assist with activities to increase member retention such as Branch Festivals, Family Events (ex: Healthy Kids Day, 5K Run, Fall Festival)7.       Communicate in a positive manner with members, guests, program participants and volunteers. Provide appropriate assistance as needed.8.       Maintain branch and association certifications in CPR/AED, Blood-borne Pathogens.  Branch orientation and Branch Emergency procedures.9.       Assist in annual branch Partner With Youth Campaign. Achieve individual and team goals as related to the campaign.10.    Adhere to departmental and branch policies and procedures.11.    Carry out other appropriate duties as prescribed by the Membership/Marketing Director.12.    Attend all required trainings and meetings.13.    Knowledge of Coach Approach and the ability to work effectively with the wellness staff.14.    Required to schedule all initial wellness/Coach Approach appointments. 15.    Consistent display of the core YMCA values:  Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.16.    Stay educated and updated on current issues regarding all YMCA programs and events.17.    Take steps to building committed and connected relationships with members, volunteers, and collaborative partners.18.    Maintains privacy requirements by not sharing personal information about members including but not limited to phone numbers, addresses, program participation, financial information or personal situations.19.    Required to follow all duties and procedures as outlined in the training manual.  Ergonomic Requirements:Bending, stooping, standing, lifting, seeing, hearing, 35 - 40% keyboard input, sitting.  Ability to take prospects on tours of the building. Effect on End Result:This position has a direct impact on the continued effectiveness of the YMCA in the community as well as on its membership.  This effectiveness can be measured by: 1.  Branch’s monthly sales goals achieved.2.  Branch’s monthly retention goals achieved.3.  Established number of daily contacts and appointments achieved.4.  Excellent attendance.
