You spoke and we listened. Last year’s Student Services Survey included a question about student use of Cable TV with less than 5% of residential students supporting it’s persistence in the residence hall rooms. Beginning Fall 2019, cable television will be limited to the shared spaces in residence halls only and not in individual rooms. We will take the funds that were previously going to the Cable TV provider and put them into improved wireless bandwidth and coverage in the residence halls. To assist in this effort, we have also created a form to allow you to report to us when wifi in your area is unacceptable for whatever reason. We will use the information collected to determine how resources are spent.
You can see the link for the form at https://intranet.brenau.edu/information-technology/ under “Report Wifi Issues”.
If you bring a television to your room, you still have plenty of options for using it including:
Connecting it to campus Wifi if it is a SmartTV
Connecting it to your laptop via an HDMI cable
Connecting it to streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Sling TV using hardware devices like Roku or Amazon Fire Stick.
If you have technical questions regarding enabling these devices, please direct them to firstname.lastname@example.org
