  • Do I have to pay for tutoring at the Learning Center? No, this is a free service. We do prioritize students with Learning Disabilities first and then students with language barriers above the general student body. However, as space is available all students are welcome to take advantage of this support service!

  • What will I need to bring with me to a tutoring session? You should bring your syllabus for the class you are getting tutoring on, instructions on all assignments you want help with, and your textbook(s) for that class. Try to always be prepared for your tutoring session, that way you will get more out of it.

  • Does the Learning Center offer tutoring on all subjects taught at Brenau? We sincerely apologize, but there are some subjects taught here for which we do not provide tutoring. However, we do offer a large variety of tutoring in multiple core academic subjects. Please click on the “Tutoring” page to get more information on this. For department specific tutoring, we recommend you utilize professor office hours or ask about tutoring in your specific field of specialization.

  • What if I can’t make the appointment I scheduled? You must cancel your appointment as soon as you realize you will not make it by emailing your tutor and calling 770-534-6133. Advanced notice of 24 hours is required. Students missing more than 2 tutoring sessions without advanced notice will be subject to termination of tutoring sessions for the rest of the semester. Please only miss tutoring appointments if you are ill or there is a serious emergency. Prioritize tutoring just like you would class attendance!

  • If I miss a tutoring session, can I get it rescheduled? No, unless the Learning Center cancels your tutoring, there are no make-up sessions for missed tutoring.

  • Is the tutoring at the Learning Center individual tutoring or group tutoring? All of the tutoring at the Learning Center is individual tutoring.

  • Does the Learning Center provide drop-in peer tutoring like the Math SPA and the Writing Center? No, the tutoring at the Learning Center is done by adult professionals not peers.

  • Do I have to bring my own laptop to tutoring or are there computers my tutor and I can use at the Learning Center for our sessions? There are computers in the Learning Center and most of the time, we have enough for everyone. However, we do encourage students to bring laptops if you can.

  • I have a laptop, could I bring it in and log in to use during my tutoring sessions? Yes, you can. You will need to know your Brenau Network Log in User name and Password in order to access the internet from your personal laptop or tablet.

  • Is my disability as a student of Brenau confidential? We comply with FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) by keeping information regarding a student’s educational records private and confidential.
