Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can anyone get tutoring at any time?  At this time, tutoring is limited to Monday through Thursday from 9am till 5pm with the last session beginning at 4pm. It is also offered at this time only at the main campus.
  • What is tutoring and how do I sign up? To see a tutor, you must contact Crystal S. Ball, the Office Manager of the Learning Center at 770.534.6133 or at cball@brenau.edu.
  • Do I have to pay for tutoring at the Learning Center? No, this is a free service. We do prioritize students with Learning Disabilities first and then students with language barriers above the general student body.
  • What will I need to bring with me to a tutoring session? You should bring your syllabus for the class you are getting tutoring on, instructions on all assignments you want help with, and your textbook(s) for that class. Try to always be prepared for your tutoring session, that way you will get more out of it.
  • Does the Learning Center offer tutoring on all subjects taught at Brenau? We sincerely apologize, but there are some subjects taught here that we do not provide tutoring on. However, we do offer a large variety of tutoring in multiple subjects. Please click on the “Tutoring” page to get more information on this.
  • What if I can’t make the appointment I scheduled? You must cancel your appointment as soon as you realize you will not make it by contacting Crystal S. Ball, the Office Manager of the Learning Center at 770.534.6133 or at cball@brenau.edu. Advanced notice of 24 hours is required. Students missing more than 2 tutoring sessions without advanced notice will be subject to termination of tutoring sessions for the rest of the semester.
  • If I miss a tutoring session, can I get it rescheduled? No, unless the Learning Center cancels your tutoring, there are no make-up sessions for missed tutoring.
  • Is the tutoring at the Learning Center individual tutoring or group tutoring? All of the tutoring at the Learning Center is individual tutoring.
  • Does the Learning Center provide peer tutoring like the Math SPA and the Writing Center? No, the tutoring at the Learning Center is done by adult professionals not peers.
  • Do I have to bring my own laptop to tutoring or are there computers my tutor and I can use at the Learning Center for our sessions? There are computers in the Learning Center and most of the time, we have enough for everyone. There could be a problem; however during peak tutoring hours.
  • I have a laptop, could I bring it in and log in to use during my tutoring sessions? Yes, you can. You will need to know your Brenau Network Log in User name and Password in order to access the internet from your personal laptop or tablet.
  • Is my disability as a student of Brenau confidential? We comply with FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) by keeping information regarding a student’s educational records private and confidential.
