Because college is a time of transition and growth, both new and returning students will face new challenges and experiences. During college, relationships change and develop, stress can become overwhelming, and students may question their identity. This is where Counseling Services can help. Through individual or group sessions, students can learn new coping skills, get feedback from others, and develop strategies for life. Some examples of the kinds of issues students may discuss with a counselor include: managing relationships, handling family problems, managing stress, balancing work, school and family and much more.

My mission as the University Counselor at Brenau University is to recognize that personal change is often a difficult process. I strive to provide a supportive, respectful and collaborative therapeutic environment where individuals can fully explore their concerns, challenges, and values. The counseling relationship allows one to seek perspective through a mutual relationship that is accepting, empathetic, and authentic. I am passionate about helping individuals, especially young adults who are collegiate and adventurous in their pursuit for excellence. My hope is that this journey will allow students to form relationships and make connections that are healthy, long lasting, and honor the following: Responsibility, Respect, Compassion, Honesty, Tolerance, Perseverance, Cooperation, and Self-Discipline.
