Greek Life at Brenau

Greek Life

Greek Life at Brenau University has a long and prosperous tradition; established in 1909, it is one of the oldest Greek systems in the United States. Brenau is one of only four women’s colleges in the United States that has Greek Life, and with seven sororities active on campus, Brenau has the most chapters.

Of the seven chapters active at Brenau, one is National Pan‐Hellenic Council (NPHC www.nphchq.org/ ) and six are National Panhellenic Conference (NPC www.npcwomen.org/) sororities. “Recruitment” for the six NPC chapters follows NPC recruitment guidelines and takes place in the fall semester. The NPHC or historically Black Greek organizations hold their recruitment separate from this process. These sororities follow NPHC recruitment guidelines, with membership intake for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. at the discretion of the individual organization, typically during spring semester.

Every student at Brenau who is a member of a sorority becomes a member of the Brenau Greek Council, the governing body over all sororities on campus, both NPC and NPHC.

What makes Greek Life at Brenau University so great? The unity and closeness created by sharing the Greek experience bonds the students who choose to seek membership in a Greek organization. As you learn more about our sororities, you will see the community‐wide programming that occurs every year on this campus, bringing together Greek students to share in philanthropic, educational, and social experiences.

We invite you to attend events sponsored by the Greek Council, meet and talk with the Rho Gammas (Recruitment Counselors), obtain a copy of the Greek Life informational booklet and visit the Brenau University Greek Council page on Facebook to learn more about the chapters that make up the Brenau University Greek Community.
